Our Policies On Critters
We love dogs! (And put up with cats). Your furry (or scaly) friends are definitely welcome up in our mountain paradise. There are several things to be aware of though. For example; we’ve had multiple dogs lost to County Road 240, which continues to get busier as the Durango Area grows. If your animals are dangerous to humans or other pets, that is also a concern.
Dogs and Deck Safety / Locks
All the cabins except one has decks and a second story entrance, and there has been an incident of a dog falling from a deck once. We keep the decks maintained and if there is any damage to your deck, contact us about maintenance. That being said, actions like aggressive shoveling and other things can greatly expedite the wear on a deck and lead to faster breaking. Many tenants have gated (or otherwise blocked) decks that their dogs can hang out on. Be sure that the gate / entrance is well secured to avoid escaping by the pup. Escape dogs pose a risk of running away or worst, getting hit by a vehicle on County Road 240.
Walking Dogs Up The Hill
If your dogs haven’t become accustom to ours up the hill, we kindly ask that they be kept on a leash, at least until properly introduced. There was one incident between our Stella Blue and a tenant’s animal that got aggressive. Just like you, we love our puppies and want to make sure they’re happy and safe. Assuming all the dogs get along, feel welcome to walk them up the hill. Otherwise, there’s plenty of trails in the area.
Pets and Cabin Cleanliness
Whether it’s cats, dogs, iguanas or any other creature (If it’s a bufo alvarius, let us know!), it’s important that the keeping of pets doesn’t compromise the integrity of the cabin. That means smell, carpets and other features. This is especially true or pets who spend most their time indoors, but are not completely contained to an aquarium. Your pets will appreciate the clean environment just as much as we do!
